If you have experience with disability in your personal or professional life and know you could provide a loving, supportive home for children with special needs, becoming a foster carer might be a natural move to make. Children with a disability come into care for a range of reasons. Some may need carers for a short period and other children will need people to care for them until they are 18 years old.
Our foster carers can:
• come from all backgrounds and cultures
• be single or married, same-sex couple, or partners
• have their own children, or not
• be working, studying or managing a family and household
Foster carers are not alone; they are an integral part of our care team and have access to ongoing training, support, social and development opportunities as well as receiving a tax-free reimbursement. You will need to have a spare bedroom for the child and you will have to be a permanent resident or citizen.
